Non-Profit Performances
April is "Jazz Appreciation Month" and Blues Alley Jazz is
committed to supporting it here in our Nation's Capitol.
It was so designated by Congress and by The Smithsonian Institution's
Museum of American History. The Museum of American History honors jazz music
throughout the month of April as America's indigenous musical art form and we
honor them through it. Blues Alley Jazz is proud to provide two performance
arts platforms through its annual
BIG BAND JAM ! on the national mall and by providing
student musicians the opportunity to perform on our internationally-renowned
nightclub stage.
The
BIG BAND JAM ! is a jazz festival designed to be for
kids, by kids, from kids and to kids. In addition to this performance platform
we also provide local area high schools an opportunity to perform weekly
throughout the month of April every Monday night. We willingly cooperate by
providing a stage and allowing children to perform at our Georgetown nightclub
location in northwest Washington, DC. We will also work with you to combine a
dinner/show package with a portion of the proceeds donated to your high school
jazz ensemble program. We will suggest a menu and assist you in sales as you
allocate funding proceeds through a percentage of the ticket sales package.
This performance opportunity is based upon on a first-come, first served basis
and registration occurs no more than three months prior to the proposed
performance date. The only restrictions that apply are: (1) you must be an area
private, public or parochial high school and (2) your school must not have
presented a performance in the prior two calendar year cycles. Please submit
your requests above in writing and we will process them in the order received
and reply as expeditiously as possible. Thank you for your interest in
performing at Blues Alley Jazz in Washington, DC.
